Ascent: A Tale of a Thousand Lanterns
The Sun has disappeared, and a permanent cloak of night has been cast over the skies. The people of the land deposit the light of their hope on tiny lanterns and send them to the sky, praying that their efforts will be heard by the heavens. Will the lanterns be able to unite and ascend, or will all be cloaked in shadow?
Guide your lantern through where the Sun was last seen rising, and gather other stranded lanterns to ascend to the sky together!
Fly - control your lantern smoothly in between branches!
Illuminate - light the way and fend off the shadows, light shall prevail!
Unite - as one, the cluster becomes stronger, allowing you to reach new areas!
Attack - engage a light burst capable of vanquishing enemies!
Controls
Use WASD or arrow keys to move the lantern. After a certain amount of lanterns you'll be able to defend yourself with spacebar.
For controller, left joystick or the D-Pad moves the player. Press the southern button (A on an Xbox controller) to deploy your defenses.

Download and unzip "Ascent A Tale of a Thousand Lanterns Windows Build.zip".
Launch the game with "Ascent A Tale of a Thousand Lanterns.exe".

a beautiful game. i love the atmosphere and the gameplay is great. came close to finishing it but it was quite difficult. had issues with a wolf spawning on my checkpoint
Yeah that's a mistake on our end :( We'll fix it after the game jam is over
The game looks awesome and the music is awesome, but I did not finished the game because it was too difficult. I could not get past one really tight long gap. Also checkpoint before this part had the wolf enemy right at it so it would take me life instantly as I would spawn so I had only 2 lives to pass the gap.
The game looks awesome and it has awesome atmosphere, but its too difficult or at least for me it is too difficult.
Yes that part is the hardest part of the game :( We might adjust that part when the gamejam is over
